Offroad Bike Touring
Engineering
This project came at a strange time in my life. I started right after I finished most of my classes for the year at U.C. Berkeley. Luckily, my classes were project classes so I was able to complete them at the end of RRR week. This left me with Finals week to cut/weld/polish/paint and assemble my bike!
I designed this frame starting with the geometry of my Canyon Grizl as inspiration. I tweaked the sizing to improve fit and changed every single component, as well as adding internal cable routing through the head tube.
People always ask me what makes the bike special. The single most special part of this build is that I built it! There other reasons for building it mostly come down to cost and the use of a mountain bike drivetrain on a gravel bike.
