Summary

by Elisa

We woke up to my parents making coffee and wandering around the Airbnb so we roused ourselves and joined the crowd.... After some breakfast and coffee, we decided on a small hike at the top of Rabbit Ears Pass and drove away. The hike was along a lake and we enjoyed walking between the pretty wildflowers and the snow banks that periodically turned into large puddles teeming with life. We turned around at a small bridge going over the icy cold river and tramped back, detouring to look at the lake and skip some stones. We headed back to the Airbnb and ate some lunch before resting for a while. My parents thought Ziven should see the town so we roused ourselves from the squashy couch and headed to the botanical gardens, which were cute and very colorful. We then headed towards downtown, parked, and wandered up and down the street, stopping in at FM Light & Sons to look at cowboy boots and hats, and getting milkshakes at the iconic pharmacy on the corner. After that we wandered along the river back towards the car and watched some river surfers battle the uncharacteristically high waters and strong current. Once back at the Airbnb, we rested more and ate dinner, making sure to save space for the leftover chocolate ice cream we had from the night before. We then watched some TV and relaxed before bedtime.
